EdiShorts – Privacy Policy

EdiShorts ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application EdiShorts.
1. Information We Collect
- Mobile number: Used for OTP-based login and account authentication. If you sign in with Google or Apple, you may separately choose to add a phone number to your account.
- WhatsApp messaging consent: If you opt in (at sign-up or later in Profile), we use your phone number to send you daily editorial updates, test reminders and exam alerts over WhatsApp. This is entirely optional, off by default unless you check the consent box, and can be turned off at any time in Profile → WhatsApp updates — turning it off takes effect immediately.
- Camera / Photos: Used only when you choose to upload a photo of your handwritten UPSC answer for AI evaluation. Photos are sent to our server for evaluation and are not stored permanently.
- Usage data: Reading history and streak data stored locally on your device.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To authenticate you via OTP login (SMS or WhatsApp)
- To send you WhatsApp updates, but only if you've opted in — see above
- To evaluate your handwritten answers using AI
- To manage your subscription status
- To deliver daily UPSC editorial notes
3. Camera Permission
EdiShorts requests camera access solely for the Mains answer evaluation feature. You can upload a photo of your handwritten answer for AI-based evaluation. We do not access your camera at any other time and do not store your photos.
4. Data Sharing
We do not sell, trade, or share your personal information with third parties, except:
- Anthropic (Claude AI): Answer images are sent for AI evaluation
- Razorpay: Payment processing for subscriptions
- MSG91: OTP delivery via SMS
- Meta (WhatsApp Business Platform): acts as our processor for OTP delivery and, only if you've opted in, WhatsApp updates. Meta processes your phone number and message content solely to deliver these messages on our behalf.
5. Data Retention & Account Deletion
Your account data is retained as long as your account is active.
How to Delete Your Account
To request deletion of your EdiShorts account and all associated data, email us at:

"Account Deletion Request – [your registered phone number or email]"
We will delete your account within
7 business days. The following data will be permanently removed:
- Account profile (name, phone number, email)
- WhatsApp consent records
- Saved articles and reading history
- Quiz attempt records
- Subscription information
6. Security
We use JWT-based authentication and HTTPS encryption to protect your data in transit.
7. Children's Privacy
EdiShorts is intended for UPSC aspirants (18+). We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.
